Police Car Cookies Popular With Kids at Harter Bakery

Police car cookies aren't going to make any traffic stops, but they are likely to stop your kids at the display case at Harter Bakery, 4050 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold.

"Kids love 'em," said Harter manager Grace Paszkiewcz. The cookies are only one of the cutout varieties sold at Harter. 

If the police car cookies aren't your dessert of choice, you may want to try a peanut coffee cake, a traditional bakery item that is hard to find in the St. Louis area.

"People tell us they can't find it anywhere else," said Paszkiewicz. "We make it all the time. It's a traditional thing."

One of the breakfast coffee cakes for which Harter also is known is the gooey butter cake, a confection that Paskiewcz says the bakery often mixes in various flavors including strawberry, cherry and other fruit flavors.
