Superior Oil Company Plans to Move St. Louis Operations to Arnold

The Arnold City Council will consider approving a business development that will allow Superior Oil Company to move its St. Louis operations into Jefferson County.

Despite the name, the company actually makes chemical and compounds needed in every day products—resins, solvents, alcohols—and has added certain types of recycling services to the company's operations, said Superior Oil documents given to the councilmen and posted on the city website.

The company plans to build a 26,000 square foot building near the intersection of Cliff Drive and Arnold Tenbrook Road.

The Arnold Planning Commission voted 9-0 to recommend, to the city council, that Superior Oil's development be approved for construction.

The councilmen will also consider a $50,000 contract with Fenton-based Tetra Tech, Inc., to design a stormwater program the lowers the pollutants entering the Arnold stormwater system, said documents posted on the City of Arnold website.

Items such as oil, grease, pesticides, construction site sediment, trash, cigarette butts and plastic bottles enter Missouri's waterways, from the city's stormwater system, to contaminate drinking water supplies and destroy the environment, said U.S. Environmental Protection Agency documents included in the Arnold City Council information packet posted on the city's website.

The Arnold City Council meeting will be at at 2101 Jeffco Blvd., at 7 p.m.
