Woman Charged with Stealing $98,000 in Coins Turned Herself In

A Ballwin resident who is charged with stealing more than $98,000 in coins reportedly turned herself in to authorities before she was jailed and later released.

A woman from Ballwin who is accused of stealing $98,925 in coins from her employer reportedly turned herself in before being jailed, court documents said.

Janet Sanguinett, 51, has since been released on bond, which was reduced to $20,000 after initially being set at $98,000 – nearly the same amount Sanguinett is charged with stealing from her former employer, Home Depot in Ellisville, over a 4 year period.

According to police records, Sanguinett was employed as a vault associate when she ordered coins to be used for changing out customers. Instead, she is accused of intentionally failing to stock the currency or log its arrival, then taking it for personal use. Court records say the thefts occurred between 2006 and 2009, including $59,650 she allegedly stole in 2009 alone.
