Ballwin Council to OK New Prosecutor
The Ballwin Board of Aldermen is scheduled to approve the appointment of a new city prosecutor and act on other city business at Monday's council meeting.

Months after controversy surrounding the resignation of Ballwin's prosecuting attorney, the city's for a new prosecutor is scheduled to come to a close Monday.
The Ballwin Board of Aldermen is slated to vote to confirm an appointment by Mayor Tim Pogue, who sought out the attorney following the interim appointment of Ballwin resident David Porta; Porta replaced former city prosecutor Keith Cheung, who was disciplined by the State Supreme Court this year for passing a note to a judge in a case he wasn't involved in, which prompted a mistrial.
The board also is scheduled to approve a contract for roughly $385,000 for asphalt overlay, and consider purchasing property near Bob Ferris Park owned by the state.

Other scheduled agenda items include approving a new city policy allowing "speed humps," and discussing city policy of outdoor displays in front of Ballwin retailers; Alderman Mark Harder is expected to present the results of a group of surveyed retailers who were asked to provide input on use of the displays.

PROSECUTING ATTORNEY SELECTION
Subject to confirmation by the Board, Mayor Pogue would like to appoint a new Prosecuting Attorney.
DRUG TASK FORCE (Bill No. 3676)
This annual contract with St. Louis County requires this legislative action.
ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS (Bill No. 3677)
This legislation amends the storm water detention and water quality regulations.
BOND REPAYMENT / DEBT RETIREMENT
It is recommended that we make a partial debt retirement which would eliminate payment for the years 2014 – 2017. Legislation is required to fulfill a legal requirement. A budget amendment is necessary to apply $2,722,000 from reserves to cover this expenditure.
BANKING SERVICES
It is recommended that this service be awarded to Pulaski Bank, who submitted the lowest of three bids that were received.
ASPHALT OVERLAYS
It is recommended that this contract be awarded to Krupp Construction, who submitted the lowest of 5 bids in the amount of $385,602.
POINTE SLIDE TOWER
It is recommended that this maintenance project be awarded to Joseph Ward Painting Company, who submitted the low bid of $10,216.
LIQUOR LICENSE RENEWALS
Applications for the fiscal period beginning July 1, 2011 are submitted for approval.
CLOSED SESSION
Mayor Pogue would like to discuss the annual performance evaluation of the City Administrator after all other agenda issues have been addressed.
PROPERTY ACQUISITION
The State of Missouri is accepting bids to sell the property which fronts on our Bob Ferris Park. It is recommended that authorization be given to enable staff to make an offer up to our budgetary limits.
SPEED HUMPS
Although very few cities permit these installations on public streets, a policy is submitted for consideration.
OUTDOOR DISPLAYS
Alderman Harder would like to provide an update on this issue now that the focus group exercise has been completed.
