Ballwin-Ellisville Patch Turns 1-Year Old

We look back at how our site has changed since it first launched, and look at what will continue to make the site great.

It was one year ago today that Ballwin-Ellisville Patch officially launched.

Since that time, our site has covered a lot of ground. We've seen several technical revisions to make the site more accessible, sure. But the additions I’m most proud of are the ones created by our own residents.

Around this time last year, Jimmy Feeney shared to live in. For Jimmy and many others, be it Ballwin, Ellisville or elsewhere, the people always are what really make or break a community.

I’m proud to have been the very first to report on almost countless news stories dealing with our local police and Ballwin and Ellisville city governments. But what makes our site distinct is what our own residents have produced.

We’re very fortunate to have Dawn Runge on-hand to engage our two cities on . Reporter and videographer Ashley Edlund has captured at several destinations in our towns. And we’ve had blog writers covering subjects ranging from the to to concerns about right here in Missouri.

With this many talented, intelligent, and civically engaged people in our two cities, we’ve been able to accomplish great things for community journalism. But that doesn’t mean we’re anywhere close to being finished.
