Ballwin Man Has 'Odd' Car Collision

What police say started as a helpful gesture lead to an unusual car collision involving a 20 year-old man from Ballwin.

A 20 year-old man from Ballwin whose car struck a median in Nebraska this past weekend had a bad experience get worse following a passerby's attempt to help.

According to an article published Monday by the Nebraska City News-Press, Brendan Kyle Whitted of Ballwin was driving a 1996 Mitsubishi on U.S. Route 75 near Nebraska City on Saturday during "one of the heaviest snowfall periods" of the evening. After losing control of the car and hitting a snowed-in median, another driver tried to help by towing Whitted's car.

When an approaching pickup truck struck the tow rope, however, which was stretched-out across the highway, the increasingly-taught rope pulled Whitted's car out of the ditch, then collided with the approaching truck.
