Ballwin's 'Buybuy Baby' Expecting Sometime in April

The baby supply superstore, which replaces the recently shuttered Borders, is likely to be operational sometime in April.

It may not be an official due date, but sources close to the project said buybuy BABY in Ballwin is likely to be open in April.

Project supervisor Michael Maurath of Pinnacle Contracting, Inc. said his company expects to finish installing most of the business's fixtures next month, while the rest of the interior should be finished sometime in the following weeks.

If the store opens as scheduled, the opening would mark the one year anniversary of , which happened in April 2011 on the tails of an announcement that 400 of the company's books and music stores were closing across the country.

Its successor advertises itself as an all-in-one stop for baby needs, covering products ranging from gliders and mattresses to baby toys and DVDs. Buybuy Baby is owned by the same group as Bed, Bath & Beyond (notice a similarity in the names; NASDAQ symbol BBBY). Just think of it as a place where Dora the Explorer and the Gerber Baby live in perfect harmony.

"To me, it's 28,000 square feet of a baby warehouse," Maurath said. "It's a big thing, but it's pretty cut and dry."
