Ellisville-based Swim Club Walks for Autism

Members and supporters of the Rockwood Swim Club met this month to support a cause greater than any one member.

The Rockwood Swim Club based in Ellisville may be more akin to water, but that doesn't mean the young men and women won't hit the pavement for a good cause.

Earlier this month, 35 members of the team took part in the Adam Morgan Fun Run in St. Charles in order to raise money for children with autism.

The group was led by assistant coach Kelly Morrison, who said it was incredible event, replete with food, prizes and entertainment.

"The swimmers and parents were both motivated and supportive," Morrison said. "I am extremely proud of our swimmers as they did an amazing job of representing Rockwood Swim Club.

Morrison added that the club plans to participate in more 5k and 10k races in the future.

This year marked the second time the 5k and 10k races were held, taking place along the banks of the Missouri River in St. Charles. Proceeds raised during the race's festivities will go toward the Adam Morgan Foundation in order to pay for medical equipment, professional treatment and other costs associated with autism at little or no cost to the family.
