Fleet Feet Sports To Hold Marathon and Distance Running Workshop
Podiatrist to discuss treatment and prevention for common sports-related foot issues

Fleet Feet Sports, which specializes in individualized fittings for shoes and apparel, will host a workshop for marathon and distance running. The workshop will be held on Wed., Aug. 3 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports located at 11731 Manchester Rd. in Des Peres, Mo.
Orthopedic Associates’ podiatrist Dr. Randy Aaranson will discuss how to prevent, diagnose and treat foot issues that affect long-distance runners. He will review various warm-up and training methods that focus on avoiding blisters, shin splints and turf toe. Dr. Aaranson also will talk about plantar fasciitis, which causes pain in the heel and bottom of the foot, and how to deal with this condition.
Dr. Aaranson has been a practicing podiatrist for more than 25 years. He is Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He also is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Tim Cary, Fleet Feet’s Assistant Training Manager and coach of the Fleet Feet-sponsored Runnababez Elite team, will discuss proper footwear , as well as how and when to start training for a marathon. Cary has more than two decades of coaching experience. He has coached athletes to three national team championships, five national individual championships, two national records, and numerous All-American and All-State honors.
