Ken Newhouse for Ellisville Mayor

Ken Newhouse is a candidate for Mayor of Ellisville. The election will take place on April 3, 2018.

Dear Ellisville Residents:

My name is Ken Newhouse and I'm officially announcing my candidacy for Mayor of Ellisville in 2018. I currently serve as a councilman in the 2nd district of our city.

We've achieved a lot on the council since I was first elected. I've listened to resident concerns and have tried to address them in a timely and efficient manner.

I've established a platform for the upcoming election. This platform, I believe, will be extremely beneficial to and supported by our residents.

- I've worked diligently to pass the first residential property tax cut for the city in 25 years. Last month, the council unanimously passed a resolution supporting a five percent (5%) reduction in the residential property tax rate for FY 2018. While the resolution is non-binding, I will make it a top priority as mayor to finalize this tax cut next fall.

- Ellisville will have a sales tax holiday next August! Are you tired of driving to Chesterfield Valley and other municipalities to do your back-to-school shopping? Well, Ellisville unanimously passed a bill establishing a sales tax holiday which will be in conjunction with the State of Missouri's next August. Shop tax free at stores like Office Depot and Kohl's in our city.

- We've passed several resolutions honoring our first responders, small businesses and our parks and environment. In November, we will celebrate 'First Responders Appreciation Day' in Ellisville on November 12. Also, we will celebrate 'Small Business Saturday' on November 25th, the day after Black Friday. Finally, in June, 2018, we will celebrate 'Ellisville Parks and Environment Day' with some soon-to-be released details for a celebration in Bluebird Park.

Our city has seen a fantastic turnaround after the great recession that hit us at the end of the last decade. Businesses are moving back into Ellisville, residences are being filled, with more to come! Our population has seen a stable increase and we hope to top 10,000 residents by the next census.

The work to keep our city on the right track has only begun. I want to be the voice in city government to represent our great residents. I will be hitting the campaign trail every week up until Election Day on April 3, 2018. I hope to meet all of you and get the chance to earn your support.

There are several ways you can get in touch with me. My phone number is provided on the city website - www.ellisville.mo.us. You can like my campaign page on Facebook here - www.Facebook.com/Newhouse4Mayor. I'm also on Twitter - @KenNewhouse1.

Thanks for reading,

Ken Newhouse
