​​​The Rockwood Board of Education has approved the hiring of Dr. Emilie Ortyl as the new principal at Ballwin Elementary School, beginning July 1, 2021. Dr. Ortyl replaces Mrs. Christine Davis, who has accepted a new position out of state.Currently, Dr. Ortyl is assistant principal at Westridge Elementary School, where she has worked since 2015. Prior to that, she was an elementary principal in Bowling Green, where she received the Exemplary New Principal Award from the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals. She also has seven years of teaching experience at fourth, sixth and eighth grades. ​Dr. Ortyl earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Educat​ion from Missouri Baptist University, a Master of Education in Elementary Administration from William Woods University and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership ​​​from​ Maryville University.“I am thrilled and so very grateful to become a member of the Ballwin Bear family,” said Ortyl. “I feel so fortunate to join such a strong school community and look forward to continuing to serve Rockwood in this way. I am eager to connect with students, staff and families as we take on the 21-22 school year together.”Dr. Ortyl currently lives with her husband, RJ, and three children in Fenton, but they are planning to relocate to Chesterfield this summer.
