Students from Ballwin Help Rebuild a Haitian Home
Two students from Ballwin who now attend Missouri Baptist University volunteered in Haiti this month to help a family in need.
Megan Caratachea and Joshua Smith may be from Ballwin and going to college in St. Louis, but that doesn't mean their service to others is limited to Missouri.
The two Parkway South High School graduates returned from Haiti earlier this month after spending two weeks helping a family of six rebuild their home. Their home had been destroyed during the infamous Jan. 12, 2010 earthquake, which claimed more than 200,000 lives, and the family had been living in a tent ever since.
Along with 9 other students from Missouri Baptist University, Caratachea and Smith spent just shy of two weeks working with the Bethel Mission Outreach, a mission group located in Croix Des Bouquets, Haiti.
