Why Was Albert Pujols In Ballwin Monday?

The future Hall of Famer's foundation golf tournament found a new home at Meadowbrook Country Club this year.

Just a few days removed from having faced his former St. Louis Cardinals teammates at his new baseball home in Anaheim, slugger Albert Pujols returned to the area Monday to take part in his family foundation’s annual golf tournament, held this year at Meadowbrook Country Club in Ballwin.

For the second straight year, Matt Holliday has taken over as the event’s "host", but Pujols made the trip from California late Sunday night following the Angels’ game against the Boston Red Sox. Along for the ride was second year Anaheim sensation Mike Trout, the reigning American League Rookie of the Year.

The Pujols Family Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, hosted by Matt Holliday, is billed as the agency's largest fundraiser of the year. The foundation promotes awareness and provides services for children with Down Syndrome and also supports education, health and other services for poor areas of the Dominican Republic.
