Credit Card Skimmer Found At Chesterfield Gas Station
Give the credit card reader a close look before pumping your gas, officials said.

CHESTERFIELD, MO — Police say a gas station manager found a credit card skimmer at the Circle K gas station at Chesterfield Parkway and Olive Boulevard earlier this week. Manager Trevor Matthews quickly alerted authorities to the sophisticated device placed atop the gas pump's card reader, which thieves use to steal credit card information from unsuspecting consumers.
Police say, even if you know what you're looking for, these devices can be hard to spot. “I was surprised at how well it blended in with the pin pad. It literally just lays over the top and you can’t notice that it’s there,” Matthews told KSDK Channel 5.
Officials said the devices are usually deployed en masse in a specific area, so if you live in Chesterfield, give the credit card reader a close inspection before pumping gas. Make sure it's attached to the pump and that the color matches. Also, be on the lookout for suspicious charges on your bank or credit card statement. That's probably a good idea in general.
