Forsyth School Names Dr. Timothy Burns Interim Head of School

The Board of Trustees for Forsyth School today announced the appointment of a new Interim Head of School for the 2017-18 school year. Dr. Timothy Burns joins Forsyth School from Tatnall School in Delaware. The Forsyth School Search Committee identified Dr. Burns from a field of exceptional candidates. Last month, Dr. Burns emerged from three finalists who were interviewed in St. Louis. Dr. Burns appointment as Interim Head of School is effective immediately.

“Dr. Timothy Burns was a unanimous selection from the Forsyth School Search Committee and the Board of Trustees,” said Eric Gilbert, Board Chair of Forsyth School. “Dr. Burns’ rare position as a professional interim independent school head for more than four decades was a compelling characteristic in his selection. His level of expertise working as Head of School with 13 independent schools across the country will benefit our students, faculty and staff. The board of trustees is excited to tap into his wealth of knowledge to continue driving excellence at Forsyth while staying true to the school’s mission,” he added.

Dr. Burns will work with faculty, staff and families to foster the Board’s mission to keep Forsyth improving and growing throughout the year.
