A Spate of Home, Apartment Break-Ins in Chesterfield Neighborhoods

The latest report from the Chesterfield police shows at least five incidents of home burglaries and larcenies in the past week.

Chesterfield police reported four incidents of home break-ins in the past week, according to the latest reports from the department for the week of March 27 through April 2.

Patch is checking with city police for more details, but all the incidents involve an unknown suspect breaking into a home and making off with personal property. In at least one case, police reported that the intruder had forced open a door.

Chesterfield police spokesman Officer Mike Ryffel told Patch that in all four cases, police do not have suspects, but that police are actively investigating.

In that case, in the 2300 block of Manor Creek Drive, police said the person broke in through the rear of the home and took jewelry. Police reported that incident on March 31, calling it a residential burglary.

In a second burglary, also reported on March 31, police said someone entered an apartment in the 200 block of South Woods Mill Road and also took jewelry.

In a third incident reported on March 13 in the 1400 block of North Outer 40 Road, someone broke into an apartment and stole jewelry and money. The incident was reported as a larceny of more than $500.

A fourth incident reported March 18 at the same address—possibly from a different apartment—police said an intruder stole two rings from the resident. The incident was also called a larceny of goods valued over $500.

Ryffel explained that a burglary "requires the entry into a 'livable structure' such as a house or business. A larceny doesn’t have that requirement as the loss could be from someone who has access to the residence on a normal basis."
