Monarch fire board director Jane Cunningham criticized over Colorado shooting post

Statement by Monarch Firefighters & Paramedics

Monarch Fire Board Member Jane Cunningham tries to politicize the mass shootings in Colorado Springs that killed a police officer and three civilians by making negative comments about Planned Parenthood rather than show respect for first responders.

Tweets by the woman that people call Calamity Jane reveal an insensitive, non-caring, self-centered person who prioritizes politics over the impact of human tragedy in Colorado – or anywhere else.

Jane Cunningham was elected to her position to be a public safety executive with a duty to respect public safety above all else. Yet her tweeted opinions about the tragedy in Colorado do not reflect the dignity of her office. Shame on Jane for politicizing the tragedy as its impact affects the grieving families of the people who were shot and killed. Shame on Jane for not acting like a human being. Shame on Jane for putting herself first above all others.

Bravo to the brave first responders who acted without hesitation by risking their lives to control this terrible crisis. We stand by our brothers in blue and all first responders, but we do not stand by Jane Cunningham.
