According to therapists, parenting styles vary in three distinct ways. Using an authoritarian style indicates that parents have experience and knowledge. Therefore, children should be obedient. Parents using a permissive style believe that not upsetting the child is paramount. Children experiencing the least amount of anxiety will be better adjusted. Limits are not emphasized in this style. An authoritative parenting style is distinguished by setting consistent boundaries balanced with showing concern and empathy.
Reading books, watching movies, speaking with other parents and therapists are all ways to improve parenting styles.
