St. Louis County Government: County Executive Dr. Sam Page Announces St. Louis County Library District Board Appointments

ST. LOUIS COUNTY (May 26, 2021) County Executive Dr. Sam Page has appointed Deborah Patterson to the Board of Trustees of the St. Louis County Library District, and reappointed Dr. Lynn Beckwith, Jr. as the President of the Board.

Patterson, a District 5 resident, and Beckwith, a District 4 resident, will both serve four-year terms.

“As a recognized community leader, Deborah brings decades of experience and a passion for reading to the Library Board,” Dr. Page said. “We are thrilled to have Deborah onboard and for Lynn’s continued service to St. Louis County.”

Patterson retired from Monsanto where she worked as Vice President of Global Contributions and Employee Engagement. Previously, she served as Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross of Eastern Missouri.

She is a board member of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Delta Dental of Missouri, St. Louis Public Library Foundation, and the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, among others. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice and a Master of Arts in Political Science and Public Policy.

As a retired educator, Beckwith spent decades serving as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He was the executive director of state and federal programs/governmental affairs for St. Louis Public Schools and served as Superintendent of Schools in the School District of University City.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Harris Teachers College as well as a Master of Education Administration and a Doctor of Educational Administration degrees from Saint Louis University.

Beckwith serves as the Chair of the United Way Metropolitan St. Louis 2-1-1 Committee, Emeritus Board Member of the American Red Cross of Missouri, and Chair of the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Public School Foundation, among others.
