A Healing Place in Richmond Heights Offers a Healing Touch

Getting a massage should be a healing and relaxing experience. So much so, that Tamara Dobson wanted her new business to feel comforting and calming from the moment you walk in the door.

A Healing Place, Dobson's massage therapy business, is now open on Big Bend in Richmond Heights.

"I called it 'A Healing Place' because that is what I want it to be," she said.

Dobson found the location and spent about six months getting it ready. She searched high and low to find the right pieces to create the shabby-chic French Provincial look she wanted.

A Healing Place will feature three experienced massage therapists and a reflexologist. Dobson is the member of the staff with the least experience, having started massage therapy in 2009.

She is making the transition from her other job to being at A Healing Place full-time, so right now she is accepting appointments on nights and weekends. She also has a booth at the Clayton Farmers Market.

"I live in Richmond Heights, and I'm so happy to have my business here," she said. "We really want to be good neighbors."

Regular massage has healing tendencies and Dobson said she likes to assess new clients to find out their needs.

"Depending on stress level or the level of injury, we would come up with a schedule," she said. "It's not about selling someone on a package of massages — its about healing. A good massage can be life transformative."

A Healing Place is located at 1045 S. Big Bend Road. To make an appointment, call 314-346-0096.

Dobson will be holding an open house that will also serve as a Human Trafficking Awareness Event from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday June 30.
