Donna Rogers-Beard to Speak About African-American Experience in Clayton

The Clayton Century Foundation 2012 Speaker Series continues on September 19 at 7pm at the Center of Clayton. Donna Rogers-Beard, retired history and social studies teacher, Clayton High School, will talk about the African-American experience in the city of Clayton.

Donna Rogers-Beard signed her first teaching contract the day Martin Luther King was killed, April 4, 1968.  After teaching one year in Illinois, Ms Rogers-Beard came to St. Louis where she taught social studies at middle and high school in University City. 

In 1990, she came to Clayton High School. 2006 the Missouri Council for the Social studies named her Social Studies Teacher of the Year.  Currently Ms Rogers-Beard is semi-retired.  She teaches two Advance Placement World History Classes at the CHS.

Ms Rogers-Beard is married.  She has an adult son who lives with his wife and two daughters in Phoenix, AZ.
