Baby Gear Featuring Farm Animals Slowly Helps Nursery Take Shape

The bedding for the baby's crib and other items lie near two bears.

The bedding for the baby's room came earlier this week, and it wowed us with cuteness.

We had decided on a theme involving farm animals some time ago. Julie grew up in the country and had sheep, chickens, turkeys, dogs, cats. The crib set, lamp and mobile match that. Fluffy sheep, playful horses and cows — it's got them all.

Julie had been scouting for some time. Typically, we're both manning our computer command stations at some point during the day. She's at work finding discounts for the family and researching things we need to be doing to prepare for the baby. Meanwhile, I'm digging myself out from under a flurry of e-mails or hurriedly typing away on an article.

When she discovered the bedding, she called me out of my technological bubble and into hers. It's always nice to see what life is like on the other side of the monitor, so I walked over to her side to take a look at the find.

Because our generous families have been bidding out various components of the baby's room, we knew just who to send the information to. Julie's parents had already called the crib, so my parents, grandparents and sister wanted to help with the bedding and the other accessories.

The baby gear arrived in record time. In a Facebook post, Mom—in keeping with the animal theme—suggested that perhaps it arrived on the back of a pony express horse.

We simply love what came. They now rest in the baby's closet in a room that already features a teddy bear wearing a St. Louis Rams hoodie (our son will enjoy the native sports, even though his dad has the athleticism of a snail) and a Care Bear lamp that Julie used as a child.

Now we've just got to wait a few more months for said son's arrival.

From what I hear, it's only a matter of time before he'll turn into a little animal, too.
