To recognize the benefits of plants to the Earth and our urban forest, a group of Meramec Elementary students, Davis Place residents, and Public Works staff worked together to enhance the landscape on the common area adjacent to the elementary school. This site remains saturated following heavy rains, therefore the native plants for this project were selected for their water loving qualities. City Foresters used this project to share how the right selection of trees and shrubs can provide an important service in a landscape.
The City of Clayton has been recognized as a Sterling Community (1 of 9 in Missouri) by the Arbor Day Foundation and has been a Tree City USA for 29 consecutive years.
