Clayton Public Works Department Receives Spire's Silver Shovel Award
The award is for municipalities that practice safe digging during construction near natural gas facilities.
January 8, 2021
The City of Clayton Public Works was 1 of 10 Missouri municipalities to receive the Silver Shovel Award from Spire Energy. This is Spire’s inaugural Silver Shovel award, which has been presented to the ten Missouri municipal public works departments that have practiced safe digging during construction near Spire’s natural gas facilities. To be awarded, a municipality must be located within Spire’s Missouri service territory, a member of Missouri One Call in good standing, and have no at-fault damages to any Spire facilities in 2019. That is no small feat. In 2019, Spire’s gas lines were damaged 1,780 times across Missouri.
