During the Monday morning rush hour, officers responded to northbound I-170 for a vehicle stalled on the shoulder. Upon contacting the driver, they learned she was the victim of a two-vehicle crash. Snowfall & deteriorating roadway conditions led to the driver losing control of her vehicle, causing the collision. Following the crash, both drivers pulled to the side of the roadway. While they briefly spoke, the reporting party told the 2nd driver she planned to contact the CPD for assistance. The 2nd driver returned to her vehicle & left the scene without providing any insurance or contact information. Through additional investigation, the woman was identified.
A man was driving westbound on Shaw Park Dr. Monday evening when an SUV entered his lane, colliding with his sedan. Despite significant damage to his vehicle, he followed the SUV onto Brentwood Blvd. He last observed the striking vehicle turning onto westbound Clayton Rd. The investigation is ongoing.

A homeowner contacted the CPD Tuesday morning when he learned someone had unlawfully entered his newly built home. The garage keypad record showed an unknown subject or subjects gained access through the garage Monday evening. The home was staged for an upcoming open house & several items belonging to the staging company were missing.
A resident in the 6300 block of S. Rosebury overheard loud noises on the street Tuesday night & observed two men standing near her neighbor's vehicle. She initially thought the incident was innocent until the men entered a sedan & sped away. When the neighbor attempted to start his Toyota Prius Wednesday, he discovered his catalytic converter missing. Thursday, a resident of the 6400 block of Alamo quickly realized her catalytic converter was missing when starting her vehicle resulted in a loud noise. Due to the recent weather, her car, also a Toyota Prius, had been parked for a few days & we believe both thefts occurred Tuesday night.
Wednesday evening, a man's surveillance system alerted him a subject, believed to be a woman, was walking around the perimeter of a home he is remodeling. As the subject walked up the driveway, he remotely activated an audible alarm & watched as the subject left the area in a white pickup truck. When he arrived at the home Thursday, he discovered tools from a contractor's vehicle & 2 of his surveillance cameras were missing.
A resident contacted the CPD Friday afternoon when she realized someone was attempting to defraud her through her computer & over the phone. The fraudster had remotely accessed her computer & was manipulating a website which made it appear they had deposited funds into her bank account. The scammer told her they had accidentally deposited too much & she needed to reimburse them. The responding officer verified the woman's bank account was not compromised & was able to terminate the fraudster's access to her computer.
Similarly, a resident was contacted via telephone Friday by a subject claiming to be an Apple representative. The fraudster convinced her to download a "security application." The scammer then used the app to access the resident's email & Amazon accounts & credit card information.

He has since repeatedly attempted to contact her through text messages & her social media accounts. Officers contacted the man, who stated he understood his interest was not reciprocated & agreed to cease contact.
