At approximately 6:30pm, a man parked his vehicle near the Clayton school district administration building & responded to the nearby baseball fields. When he returned 3 hours later, he discovered damage to both the driver’s side & passenger side front windows of his truck. Upon closer examination, he found his wallet & a flashlight had been stolen. The man was later contacted by his financial institution & learned an unknown subject used his debit & credit cards to make over $1,600 in purchases throughout St. Louis County. An investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to the 200 block of S. Brentwood Blvd. Tuesday morning after a resident reported jewelry was stolen from her apartment. The resident was home Monday night when she noticed a safe in her closet appeared to have been shifted. When she investigated more closely, she discovered several jewelry items, valued at nearly $30,000, were missing from the safe. She last accessed the safe sometime in March or April & is unsure when the items were taken. The investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday afternoon, a woman was at work when she received multiple threatening texts from an unknown number. When she left work for the day, she discovered someone had smeared condiments on her vehicle’s windshield & damaged the car by drawing on the vehicle with a permanent marker. She suspects a former co-worker may be responsible for the harassment.

A resident of the 300 block of N. Bemiston awoke Wednesday morning to discover the passenger side window of his vehicle was damaged overnight. At the time of the report, the man did not believe anything had been stolen.

Later Wednesday morning, a CPD officer was patrolling the Moorlands neighborhood when she observed an unoccupied vehicle displaying license plates stolen from a different car in Kirkwood. At the request of Kirkwood PD, the plates were seized.

A RootBound employee arrived at work Saturday morning & found the front door broken & the kitchen ransacked. Discarded amongst the debris were a pair of women’s shoes, a purse & a women’s jacket. Those items were later determined to belong to a woman who walked away from her friends after becoming intoxicated late Friday night. When she awoke to unfamiliar surroundings Saturday morning, the woman walked home & contacted the CPD. Based on her statements & evidence found inside RootBound, the woman was alone when she forced her way into the shop & remained there overnight. She is working with the store owner to arrange for restitution.

Finally, officers responded to the parking lot at #2 Mark Twain Circle Saturday evening after park visitors reported items had been stolen from their vehicles. Taken from an unlocked vehicle were 2 duffle bags containing 2 checkbooks & various personal items. The 2nd vehicle was damaged when the suspect(s) pried a rear window. The vehicle’s center console was rummaged through & a pair of Apple Airpods was stolen. No witnesses or suspects have been identified.
