Drowning Determined As Cause Of Death Of Man Found Deceased In Pond At Shaw Park

Investigators are still trying to identify him.

The following information is an update to the ongoing investigation in Shaw Park. At approximately 7:45 pm Monday evening, June 21st, a passerby observed an unknown object in the pond at the north end of Shaw Park. Responding officers discovered a deceased male subject partially submerged in the pond.

The decedent was recovered & no obvious cause of death was observed. The subject is further described as a black male, approximately 20-30 years old. He is approximately 5’11”, 160-170lbs & had medium length, natural hair. At the time of discovery, he was wearing a black Under Armour t-shirt with a large logo on the chest, black pants & a black leather belt. No other person belongings have been recovered.

The body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for further investigation. Results of an autopsy this morning concluded the apparent cause of death was drowning. No other signs of trauma or disease were observed. Toxicology results will be available in approximately 6-8 weeks.
