Let Them Eat Art Happens Friday Near Richmond Heights

The French holiday of Bastille Day is coming to downtown Maplewood on Friday.

Attendees from Clayton and Richmond Heights can expect to experience live music, belly dancing, tarot card readings and dream interpretations, among other fun activities. Artists also will provide live demonstrations in the streets.

It's all part of , a themed festival described on the city's website as "Mardi Gras meets the ." Festivities run from 6-11 p.m.

A dog costume contest is new to this year's festival. Five prizes will be awarded to dogs and owners. Judging is scheduled for 9 p.m. at a stage on Sutton Boulevard.

A family-friendly section of the festival will include plenty of activities for kids, including face painting and a visit with Claire the Clown, notes the city's website.

Patch will be running a photo booth with a fake guillotine. Be sure to stop by, get your picture taken and meet some of the Patch editors.
