As we all continue to navigate the unfolding situation of COVID-19, I want to assure you that our police, fire and emergency personnel are patrolling and responding to keep us safe. At this time, streets and infrastructure will be maintained, and trash will be picked up.
A few things will not continue as usual. Many public meetings are being postponed and all event programming is canceled for the near future to comply with county, state and federal guidelines. The April issue of City Views is being postponed since it will surely be outdated as soon as it is printed. Instead, we will issue frequent electronic updates via email, Clayton Connections, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and NextDoor. We are closely monitoring this pandemic and adapting our response as guidance is provided by Health Department officials at St. Louis County and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I urge everyone to check www.stlcorona.com and www.cdc.gov frequently and adhere to the guidelines, though challenging, to help contain “community spread.”
Let’s try to support our local businesses as best we can! The city is blocking off one parking spot for curbside service in front of businesses that request it. Businesses can request a parking spot by emailing pubworks@claytonmo.gov. A list of businesses offering curbside pick-up is available at www.claytonmo.gov/curbside. Beginning today, there is free parking at street meters during the period of emergency. Some businesses are offering free delivery. A great way to support our small businesses is to purchase gift certificates to use later.
As you practice social distancing, remember that our many beautifully maintained Clayton parks provide open spaces and great respite. I look forward to exchanging greetings with neighbors from a safe distance outdoors! Working together, I am confident we will get through this.
