Movie Review - Truth or Dare

Old game has provided title for several movies. This one is the most...recent. And eminently missable.

Truth or Dare * (out of 5) (PG-13) The old kids’ game becomes the basis for a who’s-gonna-die-next horror flick. Truth is, don’t bother. Dumb premise. Lame script. Worse ending. An attractive young cast of pseudo-collegians gets lured into the venture during spring break in Mexico. The game takes charge of the players with deadly consequences. An attractive cast with better roles surely to come is wasted here. Not wasted as in binge drinking; wasted as in talented beyond the merits of the project.

Let’s hope this flick bombs at the box office. If not, Hollywood will sense a trend and start cranking out imitators: Hokey Pokey Horror - Put your left foot in... or LOSE IT!; maybe Red Rover, Red Rover - Send Satan right over! That sets the stage for the likes of Musical Electric Chairs and Wring Around the Rosie.

Avoid this film and save us all from such a fate. (4/13/18)
