New Restrictions On Hours Of Operation For Commercial Outdoor Maintenance Equipment In Clayton

Homeowners and occupants who use motor-driven equipment will still be permitted to operate it until 8 p.m. every day, including holidays.

In an effort to decrease the noise created by motor-driven outdoor maintenance equipment, which may interfere with the peace and outdoor activities of residents on weekends and holidays, the Board of Aldermen amended Section 215.765 of the City’s Code to limit the hours of usage for commercial outdoor maintenance contractors and lawn services. Commercial outdoor maintenance contractors will only be permitted to operate motor-driven outdoor maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, chain saws, leaf blowers, and like devices as follows:

  • Weekdays from 7 am to 8 pm
  • Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 9 am to 5pm.

Homeowners and occupants who use motor-driven equipment will still be permitted to use equipment within the hours 7 am and 8 pm on weekdays and Saturdays and between 9 am and 8 pm on Sundays and holidays.
