Should Missouri Move Primary Elections to June?

State Sen. John Lamping, R-Ladue, wants to move the date to give candidates more time to communicate with voters before general elections, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Currently, Congress, the Legislature and many statewide offices hold party primaries on the Tuesday after the first Monday in August of even-numbered years.

Lamping said his reason for the proposed change is because a June primary would give candidates more time to communicate with voters before the November general elections, the Post-Dispatch article stated.
