Special Election To Be Held For Clayton Ward III Alderman

The election will take place on Aug. 3, with the winner to complete the late Dan Sokol's term, which expires in 2024.

Following the sudden passing of Alderman Dan Sokol and in accordance with the City’s Charter, Article II, Section 5, the City will be holding a special election for Ward III residents on Tuesday, August 3 to complete the term expiring in 2024.

Filing for said office is now open and Declarations of Candidacy will be received by the City Clerk or her designee from 8a-5p, Monday thru Friday (excluding holidays when City Hall is officially closed) until filing closes at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Candidates must be Ward III residents, at least 25 years of age and registered to vote; have lived in the City of Clayton for at least two years prior to the election date. Names of candidates shall be listed on the ballot in the order in which they are filed.
