Volunteer: Sort Donations for Foodbank, Help With Homeless Count

Can you spare a few hours to help out in your community this month? Here are some opportunities to get involved as a volunteer in the St. Louis and St. Charles areas.

Sorting and Packaging Food Donations at St. Louis Area Foodbank 

Volunteers will assist the St. Louis Area Foodbank from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 25 with general tasks in their volunteer room, including sorting and packaging food donations as well as building food boxes. SIGN UP FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY

Eagle Watching and Lunch with Adults with Disabilities at Emmaus Homes

Volunteers will attend a special field trip from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 27 with Emmaus Homes’ clients and will socialize, eat lunch and watch eagles with adults with developmental disabilities. SIGN UP FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY

Become an Ombudsman Volunteer for VOYCE, formerly the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program

Ombudsmans visit an assigned community to act as a voice for resident treatment and care. Other ways to volunteer include helping fundraise, event management, public relations, volunteer development and clerical tasks. Call Susan Press, Volunteer Coordinator for VOYCE-formerly The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program at 314-919-2406 to explore becoming an Ombudsman.

Help with Homeless Count in St. Charles County

Community Council is looking for volunteers to assist in the annual Point In Time Homeless Count for St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren Counties.  Volunteer to participate on a team that collects information about the unsheltered homeless population in our community on a specific day during the last week in January.  Data is collected on the number, location, and characteristics of homeless persons in the community. Volunteers are needed to assist with the street count on January 30, 2013, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., make phone calls the week before, during, or after the count and collect a survey from your organization/agency.

Assist at Club 1717 Dance for Adults with Disabilities at St. Louis Arc

Volunteers will assist at St. Louis Arc's Club 1717 Dance for adults with disabilities from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday Jan. 19, by setting up the dance, checking in dancers, serving refreshments, assisting with the food line and cleaning up after the dance. During the dance, volunteers are encouraged to socialize and dance with participants. SIGN UP FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY
