Legendary Cardinals Player Empowers Children with Self Confidence

Kirk Day School Students learned how major league Cardinals player and broadcaster Al Hrabosky used self-confidence to become a legend.

Students at Kirk Day School in Town and Country, Missouri learned firsthand how major league Cardinals player and broadcaster Al Hrabosky used self-confidence to become a legend during a lively school rally last week. Hrabosky, along with Cardinals mascot Fred Bird, shared with the children ways to set goals for themselves and their team mates. Exciting videos and catchy hand motions were used to teach the children good teamwork skills.

In a room filled with brightly colored St. Louis Cardinals jerseys and excited children, Hrabosky encouraged the students to work together and always try their best. He used memorable baseball metaphors to boost self confidence in each child’s own talents and to reach their goals. The students were excited to have an up close view of their favorite mascot Fred Bird, with cheers being heard from across the building.

Kirk Day School’s headmaster, Mr. Taylor Clement, encouraged the event to build excitement around the new school year and promote team building within a classroom environment. The program, provided by the Cardinals association, was an exciting surprise to the students and one they won’t soon forget. The Fredbird and Friends Program’s main message, “Be Active! Be Responsible! and Be Yourself!”, is a message that is shared daily in the halls of the elementary school through teachers and staff alike. Mr. Clement said, “As a diehard Cardinals fan, this was truly one of the best school assemblies we have ever had. It was fun, lively, and most of all encouraging.”
