Magellan Health Wows Crisis Nursery With Generous Gift
Employees donate hygiene bags, birthday bags, and cash to the Crisis Nursery
Magellan Health employees selected the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery as their Charity of Choice for April, and on May 8 at Magellan Cares Day, the Nursery realized the incredible generosity of the Magellan Health employees and corporate office.
Magellan Health employees recognize the important work of the Crisis Nursery— preventing child abuse and neglect by providing a short-term, safe haven for almost 6,800 children a year. Employees demonstrated their support of the Crisis Nursery with donations made throughout April.
At Magellan Cares Day the Crisis Nursery was presented with three different Magellan donations:

- $2,500 from Magellan Health corporate,
- over $2200 from direct employee donations, and
- two pick-up truck loads of hygiene products, birthday bags, diapers, wipes, toys and many more items from the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s wish list
Crisis Nursery CEO, DiAnne Mueller, was thrilled. “To have the support of so many generous employees at Magellan Health is so important to the Crisis Nursery. It is because of amazing community partners, like Magellan Health, that we can continue to prevent child abuse and neglect, and support families in crisis throughout the area”.
David M. Wadell, Vice President, Magellan Customer Care said, “Magellan’s St. Louis operation has a long history of supporting our community through relationships with key charities. Our team, from Executive Leadership to front-line staff participated in various activities, including monetary donations, supply donations, and creation of hygiene and birthday packs for use by the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery.”

About the Crisis Nursery: The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery provides a 24-hour, 365 days/year safe haven for children, birth through age 12, whose families are facing a crisis. Parents bring children to the Nursery free of charge, on a voluntary basis where they receive a medical exam, trauma-informed care, nutritious meals and take-home necessities. Parents receive crisis counseling, in-home visits, parent educational groups and community outreach. In 32 years we have served over 112,000 children.
