Eureka Chamber of Commerce Office Showcases Area

This week, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Eureka Chamber of Commerce. It was quite a pleasure. Chamber executive director Kelly Lubker juggles many different types of requests and activities.

Even during the blustery snow of the day, the chamber's offices at 22 Dreyer Avenue provided a warm and inviting setting.

As an affiliate Missouri Tourism Welcome Center, the office has a plethora of brochures, maps and fliers regarding possible places to visit in Missouri. But it also includes a large rack with slots for business cards from local business owners and managers.

Missouri has seven welcome centers located throughout the state.

For synergy, Lubker shares office space with Julie Wood, Eureka's director of economic development. Wood said they average about 20 visitors a week. "We also send out multiple relocation packets, and help travelers via e-mail and phone."

"We encourage every visitor to stay in Eureka awhile, to eat at the restaurants, visit our unique shops, like the Suzie G quilt shop, and the Wallach House, to name a few," said Wood.

"We get a lot of foreign travelers that come to the United States to discover all the treasures on Route 66."

On the walls at the chamber and center, one can find original paintings of local scenes and businesses by Eureka artist Steve Grzyb.
