The National Weather Service issued the warning at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday as heavy rainfall continued across St. Louis. The warning occurred after 1 to 3 inches of precipitation accumulated within 24 hours, the warning notes.

The organization also issued a reminder to never drive vehicles through flooded areas.
Forecasts called for a 40 percent chance of rain through Thursday evening, though sunny skies are expected on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
