Sound Problems at New City Hall Could Cost Another $50,000

At Wildwood's City Hall: "The sounds from normal activities become very distracting and disruptive to city business activities and meetings."

It's only been open since February, but government workers at Wildwood's new city hall have noticed that it's…well, noisy.

So noisy, in fact, that the city council recently authorized the city administrator to seek bids to add acoustical treatments to the building to reduce the internal hum of normal business activity inside the building, according to a report in West Newsmagazine.

“The sounds from normal activities become very distracting and disruptive to city business activities and meetings,” Dan Dubruiel told the council, as quoted by the news magazine.

West News reported that the $7.5 million building, at 16860 Main Street, could require another $45,000 to $50,000 to deaden the sounds of reverberating conversations and other activity.

In addition to Wildwood city employees, the building also houses the St. Louis County Police/Wildwood Precinct.
