Wolf Center offers unique shopping experience

The Endangered Wolf Center Holiday Boutique is Saturday, Dec. 5. That day only, mini-tours are offered without reservations.

The Endangered Wolf Center’s annual Holiday Boutique is perfect for those who love nature and also love to shop.

The Celeste Ruwwe Gift Shop has been fully stocked with beautiful and creative gifts for nature lovers in anticipation of this special shopping day Saturday, Dec. 5. The Gift Shop is located inside a World War II era bunker. http://www.endangeredwolfcenter.org/blog/tours-begi/

Want something unique? How about an original painting done by our maned wolves, African painted dogs or swift foxes? Or how about wire art crafted by local villagers in Zimbabwe from snares that were confiscated by conservation agents? In addition to those one-of-a-kind items, there’s a wide variety of jackets, T-shirts, hoodies, plush animals, jewelry, posters, books and DVDs. And lots more. Two other wonderful gift ideas are to give a membership or adopt a wolf in the name of someone special.

Holiday Boutique will last from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Admission to the gift shop is free.

And on that day, for just $10 a person you can take one of seven mini-tours being offered on the hour starting at 10 a.m. The last tour starts at 4 p.m. No reservations are needed for mini-tours that day. (It’s just one of two days of the year when reservations aren’t required for a public tour; the other is Wolf Fest, our annual open house.)

The Endangered Wolf Center is located on the grounds of Washington University’s Tyson Research Center, at 6750 Tyson Valley Road, Eureka, MO 63025. Just come to the front gate and you’ll be directed to the gift shop.

Once there, if you choose, you can pay $10 and take a mini-tour to see the red wolves, Mexican wolves, maned wolves, African painted dogs and swift foxes who live here. Be sure to bring you camera. As temperatures start to drop, the animals become more active. And with leaves disappearing, the views can be spectacular.
