Fishing Equipment Available For Check-Out At St. Louis County Library
The fishing equipment is provided through a partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

St. Louis County Library will offer fishing equipment for check-out starting July 7. Patrons can choose from a fishing pole or a kit that comes with a pole and a tackle box, equipped with hooks, bobbers, weights and a basic fishing guide. All fishing equipment can be checked out for 14 days.

Fishing is available in many areas in and around St. Louis County. One of the best ways to find public fishing sites is by using the app MO Fishing, which is available for free for Android and Apple devices.

The State of Missouri requires a fishing permit for most people over the age of 15. Permits are available for purchase at local retailers and online at huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/fishing/permits.
The Missouri Department of Conservation offers free classes and other instructional information at mdc.mo.gov/fishing/get-started-fishing. St. Louis County Library also offers many books and magazines about fishing that can be checked out.
SLCL offers a variety of items for check-out in addition to books, music and movies. Patrons can use their library card to check out portable projectors, musical instruments, telescopes, Chromebooks & Hotspot kits, video games, puzzles, board games, Read & Play kits, and more.
