Each year, residents band together for a public night out to show area criminals that they are united in stopping crime in their neighborhood.
National Night Out allows for residents and Florissant Police Department to band together to commit to protecting the area.
Here are five facts to know for this year’s National Night Out.

- This year marks the 30th anniversary of America’s Night Against Crime. It will be held Aug. 6 in Florissant.
- According to the National Night Out website, 37 million people participate with 15,000 communities from 50 states, territories, Canada and military bases, including Florissant.
- A permit is needed to host a block party in the City of Florissant for the night’s festivities, and it is of no cost.
- Florissant Police Department officers will attempt to reach each block or neighborhood hosting a National Night out event.
