5 Florissant Parks to Cap off National Parks and Rec Month

July is dedicated to our parks and recreation, and here are 5 parks to enjoy before the end of the month.

One of the points of pride for Florissant is its parks, and now there's a whole month dedicated to it. Well, almost.

July is Parks and Recreation Month and to celebrate the month, we're running down five popular and cool parks throughout the city.

  • With a new disc golf course, Dunegant Park has become a new staple for the city. With 18 holes on a course for beginners or advanced players, it could be a big draw during warmer weather. Not to mention, if you’re not interested in playing, the park has playground areas and tennis courts.

  • As a hidden jewel of the city, Sunset Park boasts other attractive qualities of the city with the Zykan-Behlmann Nature Lodge and the Sunset Trail. You could host an event at the lodge and then enjoy nature surrounding it with a stroll through the area.

  • One of the more popular parks in Florissant, St. Ferdinand Park has all of the amenities that you would need--playgrounds, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, soccer fields and barbecues. You could spend the whole day out there for a picnic or just a fun time out in the park.

  • Bangert Park is probably one of the best guarded parks in the city with a tank. Well, the tank is much more for fun than it is for protection. Kids can play on the tank or at the playground next to it, and during the summer, everyone can head over to the pool for an afternoon of wet fun.

  • Koch Park serves as one of the hot spots in town for ball games with Florissant Area Athletic Association and other teams using the fields consistently. The park also sits in front of the town’s aquatic facility.
