DNA Matches Clothing Used in Robbery to North County Man, Police Say

A K-9 unit tracked the robber's scent to some discarded clothing and items used in the robbery, according to St. Louis County Police.

A North County man was charged Wednesday with a 2011 gunpoint robbery at American Cleaners on New Halls Ferry Road.

Archie Clinton, 56, of the 9800 block of Lawnview Drive in Moline Acres, was charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

St. Louis County Police said Clinton, wearing a skull cap and a mask, went into American Cleaners at 11501 New Halls Ferry Road on Feb. 25, 2011. Police said he pulled out a gun and demanded money. He received more than $700 from the cash register, police said.

A canine unit tracked his scent and discovered clothing items from the burglary, including a coat that matched a description given by workers at the store.

A DNA analysis matched Clinton with DNA found on the clothing, according to a court document.

Clinton posted a $50,000 bond and was released Monday.
