Ferguson-Florissant Board Takes Next Step for Property Tax Increase

The Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education approved an item that would put a property tax increase proposition on the August ballot, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

If approved, the measure would increase the property tax by 75 cents per $100 assessed valuation and could produce $9 million for the district.

A committee report was done at that meeting by Lorenzo Boyd, senior vice president of public finance for Stifel Nicolaus and Co. and provided a number of scenarios for the tax increase possibility.

This comes as the district faces a shortfall of $3 million in the projected budget, according to district Finance Director Laura Modrusic.

The initiative is planned to be on the ballot Aug. 6 election.
