Florissant's The Pit Crew Featured in Auto Trade Magazine

The locally owned auto shop talks about the shop's commitment to customer service.

These days when someone visits a mechanic, people almost always assume they’ll have to pay thousands of dollars to get their car fixed or maintain upkeep. That might not be true at one local auto shop.

The Pit Crew, located at the Flower Valley Shopping Center, was recently featured in Parts and People magazine, where their customer service and commitment to customers was highlighted.

“If you tell the customer upfront that you will look at their car for no charge, you generally get the work, and a new customer,” owner Kevin Claspille said in the article. “If you tell them it’s $60 just to get started, they might not leave the car.”

The article notes that Claspille invests in a number of tools to keep his shop ahead of the curve and best assist his customers, ranging from a number of OE scan tools.

“Working with the OE scan tools makes the diagnostic work so much easier because you can see all the modules instantly,” said Claspille, who purchased his latest OE scanners through Mike Muck with Bosch. “It’s just a matter of understanding the new way of finding the information.”

According to the Pit Crew’s website, the shop offers a number of free services for customers and has online appointment scheduler. Another thing the shop emphasizes is customer education.

“We also take the time to explain every job, and always provide you with an estimate in advance,” the website home page said. “You can be rest assured that our technicians have been trained to repair your vehicle — no matter what the age — the first time and to always use the right part for your car.”

The commitment to customer service seems to work for Claspill as he has more than $1.2 million in sales, according to the article. Plus, several customers have praised the shop on its Facebook page.

“Love this Pit Crew,” Karen Brown wrote on the Facebook page. “Kevin is an honest, decent man, and has taken care of my automotive needs for at least 13 years. You are all a great team, and thanks so much for all you do for me!”
