Lowes Stores In Florissant, Bridgeton, Granite City To Close

The company expects the stores to shut their doors for good by February and will likely hold store closing sales at most locations.

FLORISSANT, MO — Lowes announced Monday that it will close about 20 under performing stores across the U.S. (plus 31 in Canada), including three in the St. Louis area. The local stores set to close include those in Florissant, Bridgeton and Granite City, Illinois.

"While decisions that impact our associates are never easy, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business," the company's president and CEO, Martin R. Ellison, said in a statement. "We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth, and we are making every effort to transition impacted associates to nearby Lowe’s stores."
