Pink's Cools Down, Brightens Up Florissant Residents' Summer

There's nothing better on a hot summer day than something to cool you down like ice cream or shaved ice.

Pink's Hawaiian Shaved Ice Shack, located along Mullanphy Lane next to Schnucks, expected a number of customers Tuesday but it was a slow go late in the afternoon.

Assistant Manager Karyn Jones said that customers had come in waves throughout the day but hoped it would stay steady during the evening.

The National Weather Service forecasted temperatures in the 90s with a heat index expected to reach 100 or higher Tuesday. A similar forecast was predicted for Wednesday with chances of showers.

The shack boasts more than 50 flavored and three different sizes.

Customer Bob Sorrells said he comes to the shack for his wife five days a week, and she loves it in the summer.

"We can't wait for them to open in the spring, and we're sad when they close in the fall," he said.

The shack is open Monday-Thursday, 2-9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.
