Riverview Fire Department Donates Winter Coats To Local Students

"It's a testament to the department's commitment to this community and our ongoing partnership," said RGSD spokesperson Anthony Kiekow.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO — The Riverview Fire Department donated three dozen winter coats to students in the Riverview Gardens and Jennings School Districts at the department's board of directors meeting Tuesday, school officials said. The coats will be distributed to students later this month.

"This amazing donation comes just in time," RGSD spokesperson Anthony Kiekow said. "Temperatures across the region have dipped and some of our students simply do not have warm winter coats."

Indeed, on Wednesday, residents across the St. Louis area were already bracing for the first significant snow of the season.

The district has previously worked with the local fire department on other community service projects throughout the school year, including the annual Back to School Bash, where firefighters hand out backpacks to students.

Kiekow called the latest donation "a testament to the [fire] department's commitment to this community and our ongoing partnership."

St. Louis Cold Drawn, Woodard Cleaning & Restoration, Survival Flight, St. Louis Bank and Kim Besserman were among the sponsors that made the donations possible, he said.
