8 Facts to Know About Retiring Hazelwood City Manager
Edwin G. Carlstrom will serve his last day in office Friday.

With more than 40 years of public service under his belt, Hazelwood City Manager Edwin Carlstrom will be retiring this week.
We’ve accumulated a few facts about the man who has run the city’s day-to-day operations for more than 30 years.
Carlstrom has been the city manager of Hazelwood for the past 34 years and is the longest tenured city manager in Missouri.

He orchestrated the multi-year Capital Improvement Plan that allowed for the building of a new City Hall/Police Station complex, Hazelwood Civic Center East, Fire Station and maintenance facility.
During his tenure, the City of Hazelwood has doubled its population to more than 25,700 residents.

July 26 is Carlstrom’s final day in office, and a city proclamation also has made this date "Edwin G. Carlstrom Day."
Carlstrom lead the efforts to bring St. Louis Outlet Mall, formerly St. Louis Mills Mall, to the City of Hazelwood, which is valued at $300 million.
He helped bring more waterworks to the city by helping in the development of White Birch Bay, a $5.7 million water park, and installing and upgrading the Musick Park Sprayground.
In business development, Carlstrom created a business-friendly town with more than 1,000 businesses, including 12 Fortune 500 companies, six Fortune 1,000 companies and 10 corporate headquarters.
After 40 years of service, Carlstrom looks forward to spending more time with his grandchildren, working on projects, his farm and rediscovering his hobby of music.
